MEDICAID

   Medicaid is state and federally funded health care coverage.   HCDJFS  administers Medicaid programs that provide health care coverage to:

  • Income-eligible parents and their children up to age 21
  • Preventive and treatment services up to age 21
  • Pregnant women
  • Older adults
  • Income-eligible people with disabilities
  • Children in foster care

There are several Medicaid programs:

  • Healthy Start is geared toward pregnant women and children up to age 19. Eligibility is based on income and family size.
  • Healthy Families helps children under age 19 and parents with incomes at or under 90 percent of the federal poverty level.
  • Healthchek provides preventive and treatment services for anyone eligible for Medicaid under age 21. 
  • Aged, Blind and Disabled Medicaid  includes nursing home and in-home care.
  • Medicare Premium Assistance Program  provides those eligible for Medicare who have limited income get help paying their Medicare premiums. Applicants must be eligible for Medicare to qualify. No face-to-face interview is necessary.
